Along with the increase in business came the need to find larger premises for the business and in August 2000 a suitable site conveniently located on Wharf Road not far from the wharf area of Port Vila, was acquired.

Meanwhile, Chris Kernot and his family migrated from New Zealand to Vanuatu to set up a much needed inter-island shipping service bringing his own boat over from his homeland. Very quickly, local Ni Vanuatu came to rely on Chris's inter-island transport service.

Chris subsequently went about establishing his own freight and customs clearance business, with an emphasis on shipping under the name, Reef Agencies Limited. This business also set up operations on Wharf Road, Port Vila.

As close friends and business associates, it soon became obvious that instead of competing with one another, both parties should combine forces to offer the public the most comprehensive freight logistics and customs clearance service in all of Vanuatu.

And so, on the 18th December 2007, Chris and Tony entered into a formal agreement to amalgamate both businesses under the name Fr8 Logistics. This occurred in spite of Chris's love for the All Blacks and Tony's passion for the Green and Gold!

Obviously, DHL still makes up a substantial part of the overall turnover of the company. However, Fr8 Logistics has become the major provider for support logistical services to other companies in Vanuatu and increased the removals business to the point where we are now the preferred packer to most of the Diplomatic Corps and Financial institutions in Port Vila.

Fr8 Logistics have established an agency arrangement on the other major economic center on the northern island of Luganville on Esptiritu Santo and offer both international and domestic courier services between the two centers.

We also have set up FR8 Logistics NZ Ltd in Auckland to service our New Zealand customers.

Fr8 Logistics already offers support services to many companies for warehousing, packing and even distribution of their products. We have a strong knowledge of Customs’ importation and export requirements for Vanuatu. Our team have a high level of understanding of the procedures of exporting and importing by either sea or air. We have gained a great deal of experience by working with our various overseas agents and other local importers and exporters. Some of the products handled in the past as exports include: live fish, coral, beche de mer, sandalwood, lobster - all to various parts of the world.

The company now has a large fleet of vehicles and many full time staff. In spite of its size, we remain very much a customer-oriented business where everyone within the company is passionately involved in the day-to-day operation.
