Your decision has been made to leave Vanuatu, and so now you need to consider a number of things for your relocation, including your Vanuatu removalists.

What you take really depends on what your contractual or personal arrangements are. In most cases, when it comes to furniture or electrical items it may actually be more economical to consider selling them prior to your departure and then repurchasing them wherever your future residence may be. You can find that you will get a good return on their value due to the cost of similar new items in Vanuatu.

Of course if contractual arrangements allow for it then you may want to take everything with you.

When considering your removal there are a number of things to bear in mind. We have listed some of the important ones for you so so just click on the form heading and print and tick them off as each is completed.

WHEN YOU DECIDE TO MOVE

Obtain Removal Quotation from Fr8Logistics.

If renting, notice to Agent or Owner of Move.

Give as many details as possible to Fr8 Logistics' assessor.

Arrange for the sale of any unwanted items of furniture/electrical items.

A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE YOU MOVE

Clean out medicine cabinet and dispose of unwanted medicines.

Empty fuel from o/b motors, mowers, lamps, generators etc

Empty and wash garbage bins and vacuum cleaners.

Obtain packing materials from ECS for items you would like to pack yourself.

Sort out and clean garden tools and items from the garden shed.

Return any borrowed items so they do not get packed by mistake.

Defrost the fridge, freezer and ensure that they are cleaned as well as other kitchen storage items.

Dismantle any pre-fabricated items. Eg: computer desk.

Contact Fr8 Logistics regarding Marine Insurance for your personal effects. An accurate value on your goods will need to be calculated.

Arrange for the disconnection of any special electrical items or light fittings.

THE DAY OF THE MOVE

Advise our supervisor on arrival whether the driveway can be used.

Remove food from refrigerator.

Remove any jewellery, money, family heirlooms or other valuable items and documents.

Check with Fr8 Logistics supervisor that insurance coverage is in place.

Remove kitchen, clothing, linen, bathroom items to be packed, from the cupboards and place into one area in each room.

Identify furniture and electrical items, pictures, vases or pots to be packed with small coloured sticker.

Check all gas, electrical cords/fittings and taps.

Check garden for toys or other loose items.

Identify and place separately any items of a wooden nature. Eg: artefacts, kitchen items, local mats or other carvings and furniture.

PETS

The cost of sending pets home will have to be investigated. You may want to consider the viability of sending them home as the costs sometimes associated with this can make it almost prohibitive. Stringent Quarantine laws in the country of your future residence mean that your pet could be away from you for a long period at a very high cost for board and food while in a quarantine facility. Although, the cost and logistics of bringing them to Vanuatu may have made it possible, you should check the Quarantine service of your future country of residence about the requirements there for when you return.

We will liaise closely with the Removal Company at destination regarding the timing of your shipment, the vessel details, the estimated time of arrival there and especially ensure that all documents are supplied to them prior to the arrival of the vessel.
